Fabricated Metals When Welding Is Required

As many blacksmiths know, welding is an important process that fits together two pieces of metal, through a series of processes that involve high heat, melting, forming, and application. Welding is used in many processes, including more than 50% of products used in America. It has been a technique used for many millennia, since 3,500 B.C.

American products use a great deal of metal. There are cars built out mostly of metal, metal chairs and tables, metal posts and gutters, metal bicycle spokes for tires, metal buildings, and so much more. Metal is looked at as necessary for an economy, including the romance of books such as Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged.

Metal and metal working is seen in some circles as a visual representation of the guise of America–the brilliance in terms of ingenuity and innovation, of creativity and production. It is seen often as a useful tool of putting together different substances, of forming packages, of use in buildings and machinery.

Metal is used most often possibly in manufacturing and metallurgy, where the use of metals is relevant to the products being produced. For instance, consider metallurgy.

Metallurgy is the process of working with metals. It is considered full time job if one is to become great at it. Metallurgy involves the use of copper, zinc, steel, and more to form objects made out of metal. It uses processes such as welding–the merging of two separate materials to be joined at a point–hammer work and the breakdown of materials.

Welding is a significant part of metallurgy, as materials are needed to be welded when they are separate and needed to be joined. Applications of this type of process include rings, posts, end posts, and more. Welding has a certain appeal within metallurgy as it is a necessary process to get the end result.

TIG welding was first developed in the 1930s. Today, it is most commonly used in the aerospace, automotive, repair, and art fields. TIG stands for Tungsten Inert Gas and is an arc welding process that uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to produce the weld. It is often used to weld thin sections of stainless steel, as well as copper and magnesium.

Welding is a growing industry and possibly employs more workers each year. According to the U.S. Bureau Labor of Statistics, employment for welders, cutters, solderers, and brazers is projected to reach 412,300 by the year 2024. That industry remains a growing field. It is possible that this has occurred because of the growth of manufacturing.

Welding goes by many different names, including titanium welding, and can be used in various processes, including oven repair, wheel repair, steel fabrication, mechanical seal replacement, metal fabrication, and preventative maintenance. The ability to repair, fabricate, and weld materials is an important point within the welding industry.

Welders typically work as part of a company, often involving lower to mid-level products such as low cost jewelry, low worth vehicles, metal appliances and metal furniture, as well as metal artwork and metal hanging signs. But welders can also work on higher end products, such as airplanes, new cars, expensive artwork, and large buildings.

By the year 2020, the international metal fabrication equipment market is expected to grow by nearly 7%. The growth in manufacturing, the proliferation of new buildings, the need for more furniture as the population grows have all likely contributed to the growth or will contribute to the expected growth of the metal fabrication equipment market.

Two of the materials used in the metal fabrication market are aluminum and steel, both of which are used for material in various industries. Steel parts are now more dent resistant and are up to 30% stronger than they were a decade ago. Aluminum is one of the most recycled materials on the market. 75% of aluminum produced in the U.S. still exists.

The metal fabrication market also has a hand in producing and repairing food processing machinery. Food processing machinery is the equipment that is used to handle and prepare food for packaging. Food processing machinery is used by many manufacturers. The key for food processing machinery lies in the construction, maintenance and repair.

Food processing machinery is used for a wide variety of purposes and it helps to make food uniform for packaging.
